MS Bike Tour

The MS Bike Tour is the largest organized cycling series in the county.  Over 100,000 cyclists ride each year in one or more tours in 48 states.  In 2007, over 2,000 cyclists raised $1,445,546 for the Eastern North Carolina MS Society.

The 2008 tour will be the 20th consecutive annual Eastern North Carolina MS Bike Tour (titled MS 150 until 2007).  This year’s bike Tour will be held on Saturday and Sunday, September 11 and 12, 2010.  The rides will begin and end on each day at Union Point Park on the waterfront in New Bern.  Cyclists have the option of riding one or both days and of riding either 30,75 or 100 miles on either or both days.  Most of us will opt for the 75 mile course on each day.

If 75 miles seem like a long way, remember that the rest stops are at 12 to 14 mile intervals and there are many SAG wagons with repair equipment driving the routes.  The rest stops are stocked with energy foods and Gatorade.  Lunch will be served at one of the stops.  Clean portable toilet facilities are available at all rest stops.  If you start training by June, finishing 75 miles is a very attainable goal.

Festivities will begin in downtown New Bern on Friday afternoon.  The Tour will have a dinner for all participants on Saturday evening that is usually followed by entertainment.  Shower facilities are available on Sunday afternoon.  Daycare is provided at a certified daycare facility in New Bern for an additional charge.
